A very splendid and exceedingly large band of mortals once accosted their creator in his celestial chambers wherein lay the primordial forge of creation and demanded his presence.
When he came they spoke with one voice saying:Good and mighty creator,we are very pleased with your work and all the splendor of it’s beauty. We are glad to be so exalted as to be created in your image and likeness. We have seen all the mysteries which you did conceal that we may uncover for our own pleasure,we have transvered the universe from end to end and now we seek diversion in some new creation;let it be as magnificient as our present quarters and twice as wondrous.
The Creator looked upon them in sage contemplation and after much thought he did reply:You who are the most magnificient jewel ever crafted from the bellies of my forge have asked a strange thing. I would do as you ask and i warn you that the course you choose is uncharted.
I shall create a new world for you,it shall be just as magnificient with twice the wonder of your current place just as you asked. But i warn you, when you go into it you shall be changed;you shall forget whom you once were,
you will forget your origins and debase yourselves.
Some shall acquire base natures and act as the beasts of the field,
some shall delight exceedingly in the creation till their eyes become dim then they shall question my existence,
some shall resist corruption and become wise,
some will learn from the wise and become so,
many shall become living paradoxes-queer combinations of folly and knowledge.
Folly would become a virtue and sanctum for some.
You would be ruled by fates merciless and whimsical.
Your wits shall become as blades and clubs with which you would harm each other for sport and vain gain.
Tenderness shall wither within your breasts and shall bloom only by conscious striving to keep it so.
The flame of joy shall within your heart glow but for a moment.
Your bodies shall suffer the shame of decay.
You shall create your own darkness and be blinded by it’s opacity.
You will be confounded by the mysteries of your new habitation.
You would become blind to true beauty.
You would despise the bonds of brotherhood and seek to subdue each other.
Truth shall flee your tongue
Love shall find your hearts hollow and unfit for habitation,
you shall then be forced to subsist on mere affected affection.
You shall think yourselves spurned by the universe and therefore rue your existence…
Then within all that chaos shall spring hope by which light you shall find your way back home and become all you once were.
All these he said to them, whereafter the creator tore open the fabric of reality and tossed them one and all into it’s depths…
…And here we are.
